An easy deconstructed sushi bake recipe that comes together super quickly! This will become the new favorite meal in your household that will be on repeat. Prep this casserole ahead of time and just pop it in the oven 10 minutes before serving!
Ingredients
- 1.5 cups sushi rice
- 2 cups water
- 1/4 cup rice vinegar
- 8 oz imitation crab chopped into small pieces (or sub with shrimp or salmon)
- 1/2 cup Spicy Mayo (mix Japanese mayo and sriracha)
- 8 oz softened cream cheese or whipped
- 2-4 tbsp furikake or seaweed blend
- 2 Nori Sheets
- optional toppings- sesami seeds, chopped scallions, sliced avocado, sliced cucumber and more spicy mayo
Instructions
- Add rice to a strainer and run under cold water for about 2 minutes, mixing around.
- Then place the rice and 2 cups water in to a pot or rice cooker and cook until soft.
- Preheat oven to 375 degrees Fahrenheit
- Transfer the rice into a 13×9 inch buttered baking pan or casserole dish, add 1/4 cup rice vinegar and mix gently.
- Spread 3/4 of the cream cheese and sprinkle with seaweed blend. Top with 2 Nori sheets, pressing down lightly.
- In to a bowl, finely chopped imitation crab, 1/4 cup spicy mayo (or mayo and sriracha), and the rest of the softened cream cheese. Mix well.
- Spread the crab mix evenly over the rice.
- Garnish with more seaweed blend, spicy mayo and top with chopped scallions.
- Bake at 375 degrees Fahrenheit for about 10 minutes. You can also broil for an extra 2 minutes.
- Serve the sushi bake right away with Avocado, cucumbers and or your favorite sushi toppings!
